DR. KATSUNOBU KIHARA | SECRETARY GENERAL

Professor, Faculty of Social Studies, Doshisha University. Ph.D. in Social Welfare.

Member of the board of trustees of Doshisha University Educational Corporation.

He specializes in the history of welfare thought, the philosophy of welfare, and social work theory. His fields of practice include suicide prevention and mental health in social work. He is a President of the Japan Society of Christian Social Welfare. He is a member of the Science Council of Japan.

His prominent publications include George Müller and the Source of Christian Social Welfare (Kyobunkan, 2023), Weakness and Philosophy in Social Welfare (Inochinokotoba, 2015), Social Welfare and Human Rights (Minerva Shobo, 2014), The Welfare Ethos of Social Work (Minerva Shobo, 2003), Jane Adams’ Welfare Thought (Kawashima Shoten 1998) (winner of the 5th Fukutake Tadashi Prize).
